2021 New Year’s Resolutions!

We did it! We got through 2020! Personally, making a list is not enough. When listing out my resolutions, I like to also include a plan or at least an idea on how to achieve each goal because it makes it more realistic and thus, more likely for me to fulfill it. I also try to make my resolutions as specific as possible to force myself to think about what I’m actually committing to.

My 2021 New Year’s Resolutions:

  • Save money
    • For each check I earn and for every allowance I receive from my parents, I will take 10% of it and add it to my savings account.
  • Read 12 books
    • I will read books belonging to different genres and use Goodreads to keep track of my progress. I will read for at least 30 minutes at a time. Genres of interest: Non-fiction, fiction, mystery & thriller, fantasy, romance, sci-fi, historical fiction, memoir & autobiography, science & technology, poetry, and young adult fiction/fantasy.
  • Adopt healthier habits
    • Meet with a Registered Dietitian (nutritionist) in January and go from there. Continue taking my vitamins. Drink two water bottles every day. Do full-body workout 3 times a week to increase consistency (this past year it was hard to break down my workouts throughout the week because I couldn’t workout every day which led to inconsistency).

That’s it! I decided to keep it short because I want to truly achieve these.

Informal advice

The best thing you can do is live for you. Not for anyone else. Let people guide you but don’t ever let them overrule you. You make yourself, so ensure that the you you’re creating is authentic.

Don’t talk to anybody romantically until you know who you are first. People won’t be able to connect with you on that level if you can’t first connect with yourself. Also, don’t bother “holding” anyone down but yourself. People are fickle, you exist until you don’t.

Don’t be afraid to put your voice out there, even if it opposes seniority.

Learn moderation. Don’t become an alcoholic because you didn’t wanna seem like a drag to some drunkhappy friends.

Everything you do, learn how to do it well. And then learn how to turn that well into near perfect. Always strive for the best when your work is representing you.

Deletion ain’t nothing but an action boo. Somebody unimportant is annoying you? Delete! Instagram feed making you too mad? Delete! Friend refuses to do right by you? Delete! Of course you need to develop communication tactics but some people don’t deserve that time and don’t you waste it on them either. Anything you don’t want in your life, you can get rid of. Remember that. You don’t have to stay suffering.
